We strive to develop long lasting relationships and strong communication with everyone who walks through our doors.

Our regular appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes so that we take the time to thoroughly address all your questions and concerns.

Dr. Kate Washabaugh*, Owner

Dr. Washabaugh earned her DVM from the University of Wisconsin in 2007 after many pre-vet years working at the practice.  Outside of work she has fun biking, paddling, and running after her children, and Max the dog.

Dr. Karen Vanderloo, Owner

Dr. Vanderloo is a University of Wisconsin graduate. She joined the practice in 2017.  She’s kept busy with her young kids, three active dogs, and trying to find time for triathlons and knitting.

Dr. Amanda Forbes*, Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Forbes graduated from the UW-Madison school of Veterinary Medicine in 2022 and jumped right in. She has been working in vet clinics for over a decade and her passion shows through. She and her wife enjoy all things sports, the outdoors, and their two dogs. We are so delighted to welcome Dr. Forbes to our practice!

Katie Tschanz, Certified Veterinary Technician

Katie joined the practice in 2007.  She DJs in her spare time and also enjoys horseback riding and spending time with her husband and son, Kyle,  in the outdoors.  Labradors Daisy and Maggie keep her busy!

Chris Evers*, Certified Veterinary Technician

Chris joined A Breed Apart in 2005.  She enjoys time with her family and friends and building lasting memories with her kids Brody and Ella with her husband.  They share their home with Jack the Cat and their French Bulldog mix, Stella.

Julie Shrader, Certified Veterinary Technician

Julie joined us in early 2015 and fit right into our ABA family.  She shares a life in the country with Mike and her four legged kids and is also a mom and grandmother. Julie graduated with honors in December 2014, from Globe University.

Georgia Curry, Veterinary Receptionist/Do It All Magician

Georgia came to us in a serendipitous moment and took took over managing the front end with the positive vibes we all need when we’re worried about our pets. Georgia will be pursuing veterinary medicine in her future and in between helping our clients is soaking up everything she can.

Hannah Close, soon to be CVT

Hannah joined A Breed Apart in 2023. She enjoys spending time with her cats and her fiancee in her free time. They are excitedly expecting their first puppy! Hannah will be officially a CVT as soon as the ink is dry on the paperwork!

Elizabeth (Liz) Mitchell, Veterinary Receptionist

Liz came back to the clinic after spending some time working in coastal California. She is currently pursuing a pre-veterinary degree and enjoying her time working and learning with ABA! She spends her free time enjoying the outdoors with her boyfriend and dogs, crocheting, and painting.

Charlie Norton, Veterinary Receptionist

Charlie is our newest member behind the front desk. We are excited to introduce him to our wonderful clients and their pets.
